How can someone be so obsessed with skulls, as is Damien Hirst. Unlike people practicing black magic, Hirst’s skull is not darn but is a life-size cranium of a human baby, studded with diamonds. It actually casts spell on the onlookers, not owing to super powers but the wizardly dazzle that it possesses. The skull is not any replica but an actual skull acquired by Hirst from the 19th century pathology collections. It’s gonna make quite a sight at the Gagosian’s inaugural exhibition, ‘Forgotten Promises’, which is to take place at the Gagosian Gallery in Hong Kong from 18 January.
